67. Mask

Yes, it is my character Maskurade, BUT, have you ever wondered where that name came from? Several of my guild mates over the last 5-6 years have.

So here you go!

"Maskurade" came from Garandel and I driving in his car one day after school. Phantom of the Opera was the new movie out around that time, and was the topic of discussion that day. As well as the music on in the car. We were namely talking about techno remixes and joking around about if we were DJs what our names would be.

Just singing along to [link] and surprisingly hitting that crazy high note at the end spot on.... He just blinked and turned to me. "I know your name. Masquerade."

In response all I could say with a straight face was, "Has to be spelled with a K instead of a Q. Makes it more unique."

There are serveral other stories about how Maskurade was inspired from Phantom of the Opera, one including a guild mate rewriting the lines in the song from that play "Masquerade" to be about my character killing people.

Lyrics next to her:
Maskurade!
Hide your face
So the world will never find you!
Maskurade!
Every face a different shade.
Maskurade!
Look around
There's another
Mask behind you!

Maskurade!
Seething shadows
Breathing lies
Maskurade!
You can fool
Any friend who
Ever knew you!

Maskurade!
Leering satyrs,
Peering eyes.
Maskurade!
Run and hide
But a face will
Still pursue you...

First critique. :3

Let me start off first by saying I love the work you do with the existing World of Warcraft models. As a fellow player myself, it's great to see these models in a bright, fresh new way.

The hair is what I think I love most about this piece. the rich colour tones, the soft look of it, and the way it flows so whimsically and naturally. Absolutely fantastic!

Here's the thing I think could use a bit of work; her dress. I don't know if it's just my monitor screen and perhaps I am not seeing details that are there, but even though it has a good form, it just seems like a blank silhouette. If this was intentional, my sincerest apologies.

Vision; 4/5. It is definately a very pretty piece and is calming on the eyes.

Originality; 5/5. Though technically should be lower due to the fact it's from a game, I don't like to go by those rules. It seems to me that, though a character from an mmo, she is highly developed in both visual and story.

Technique; 4/5. Again, with the dress mostly. I think with a bit more time and working with it you can really make this piece shine.

Impact; 3/5. Although very appeasing to the eyes, there isn't much and really jumps out at you. I suggest perhaps a background, even a simple one, would help a little besides just being a solid grey.

All in all, I look forward to seeing more of your edits and hope to see you excel in your art!
